We are here now and came for 5 weeks, we intended to do so much and take some trips, but we have got so chilled out relaxing and doing nothing much, it has been great.  Still love the place and the Turkish people.  Last October, we called into a little shop next to the Twins old place.  As they were closing for for the season, we spoke to the lady owner for a while and we bought a few things.  Last night we went back and she was so lovely and threw her arms around us like we were old friends.  This is the sort of thing that is so nice to encounter.
Also, meeting people from the Forum.  Last night saw Rosemary, Robin Anne and Billy and had a drink with A.O.K and his wife.   It is not just the place, but the atmosphere and the comfy feeling you get when here.

What an interesting thread. We have been discussing this recently ourselves. This is the first year in 26 years that we are not going to be in Calis. Having first visited in 88 we bought in 2004 and have had too many holidays to count. However due to various circumstances the last time we stayed in our place was 3 years ago. We have stayed in various hotels on the prom and last year a crowd of us stayed in the Manas park on an all inclusive basis- most unusual for us! however we loved it. We thought that there were many changes and fewer people around that we knew.
However , we do love Fethiye and thoroughly enjoy wandering around the streets there.
We decided last year that we wanted to do other things. We have a Med/Dalmatian coast cruise next week, Corfu in July for a week and then we are going to Spain in September. Only recently did we think that we could’ve done Calis in September instead! But its too late and I think we will miss it.
We will live vicariously through friends and family who will be visiting and maybe next year we’ll squeeze a week in.  Or maybe we will see places on our cruise that we want to explore more fully- Croatia is a distinct possibility!
Our place is rented long term but there are other places to stay.
We can test the theory that absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Until now we have not had the opportunity to spend more than 2 weeks at a time at our apartment but  always been our wish to do so. That is about to change. I am due to retire and I no longer have family commitments with my parents my dad bless him recently passed away.
This year our visits to Calis will be longer and more frequent .

Like another poster said people's circumstances/interests change, Calis will always be Calis,  It's a bit like Marmite I suppose only a lot hotter, 3 visits last year & the second of 3 this year is only 4 weeks away, Spend less time on the beach front but still find plenty of bars/restaurants to try & the people we meet Turkish & English are all friendly, wish I was young enough  or rich  enough to retire & spend even more time there. Roll on July 3rd.  8)
