If it's a driver and a "bouncing passenger" that'll be Trials Cars. Most of the cars were custom built and had individually, hand-operated rear brakes. A large number of the cars taking part were built by Mike Cannon of Tonbridge.

I took part in this sport as a "bouncer" in my teens with Percy Barden, who owned Vinters Park, near Maidstone, one of the venues for the sport, and his son David at several of the events in the Kent area. The rear tyres were deflated to around 5psi and the idea of bouncing was to increase the footprint of the tyre to gain more grip.

i've got a Trials car, a 1932 Morris Minor 8 Trials, tucked away in the garage. I'ts got an outside handbrake,
timber framed rear half covered in fabric, the clutch and brake pedals are reversed, adjustable suspension,
dual fold down windscreens. It's been in the garage for years but it goes like stink for an 8 hp engine, if a
bugger to drive with reversed close knit foot pedals. It's got a lovely Lucas electric klaxon horn.
Happy days.     :)

I paid about 4k in 1991. I've got the original beige replacement Registration Book and the road tax was £ 2. 15 shillings in 1942
