Does anyone know if there are coaches or trains to France or Italy leaving from Istanbul?

I clicked on to the site you suggested and it seems that the trains travel via Romania or Bulgaria. I wonder how safe these countries are to travel in. Interesting itinerary though.

Daffodil - I suspect that travelling in Romnania or Bulgaria is as safe, or a s dangerous as travelling in the UK considering that the terror threat level is at severe at the moment.

Another option is the ferry from izmir to Italy. Transportation on from Italy ,I would have thought, should be fairly straight forward.
