I know that the popular reason for burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes is to celebrate the fact he was caught,the plot was thwarted,and he was tortured and eventually suffered a horrendous death.
I however like to think of him as a great patriot,an individual who in those turbulent times had the courage to take action.
Therefore I like to think we celebrate the 5th for his courage.
We could do with some one like him today.
