Not so good?

Lots of positive reviews on here but there must be places to defiantly avoid?

Anywhere that consistently tries to rip people off or anywhere you wouldn't eat then id like to hear it please?

There was a topic along these lines last year I think. The problem is that every bar you are advised to avoid has many fans too, so you get "Don't go to ***** Bar" followed by 26 "You don't know what you are talking about" replies. Also people generally tell CBF which things they love, they tend to dislike on a far more private basis, which isn't likely to change.

I may be wrong but my experience tells me that when someone goes to great effort to smear a bar or restaurant on here, it can usually be traced back to a personal vendetta or fall out rather than any fact or facts worth hearing. There are bars and restaurants I don't like and I choose to go to others instead. At the same time, I am aware that they have their happy regulars too.

Rip offs you need to know are the clothes shop change guy, the old git who clasps your shoulders without asking for 2 seconds then demands 20 lira, and anyone who sells Efes as a career and houses because you are "special friend".

Ok, here's my two pennies worth!

There is this restaurant in Olu Deniz (It's on the road marked as 224 SK in googlemaps. Can't remember the name sorry! will try to update the thread when in Fethiye next). But what they do is they put a blackboard just outside advertising a 3 course meal at 15.00 per head. You would think the price was in Turkish lira! No, it was in British Pounds! What they also did is they scribbled a very faint £ sign next to the price of 15.00! Afterwards, when the bill gets settled they'd convert the 15.00 Pounds to Turkish lira using the rates as it suits them!!

Personally, I don't have any vendetta against them, and I doubt if this place has its own hard core customers as it's a seasonal place only operational during summer times.  I've tried them once 2 years ago and never went back to that establishment again.

I think in this case it's good to name and shame places that blatantly tries to rib ppl off. Perhaps once they {the scammers} know that the word is out {here on this forum} they might stop doing it!

Cheers

To be honest never really had a bad meal in calis, but if you don't like don't go back.

Just to echo what Scunner says. I have been in just about every bar in the area. (anyone that knows me understands that is unlikely to be an exageration) If we don't like it we simply don't go again. if something happened that was blatantly dangerous and upsetting then I would be compelled to put it on here but quite frankly I have never in the 7 years I have been going to Calis seen anything like that.

Yes I have seen (at least in my opinion) a bit of sharp practise and slightly over exuberant salesmanship that leads to us not go back but nothing I would want to put on here. Given the influence this forum can have I consider it to be unfair to businesses trying to earn a living for me to offer negative vibes based purely on my selfish opinion

If I experience something exceptionally good however that I feel deserves some praise then more often than not will post it on here. It would be interesting to see whether other members share a similar view

There is only one restaurant in Calis that we had a bad meal in, but we did give them another go the next year,  yet again we had another bad meal, so out of all the places we tried it's the only place we would not go back to.  However, 99% of great meals at good restaurants is probably an excellent average.
