New inheritance laws in Turkey??
« on: June 02, 2010, 09:23:40 AM »
Just returned from the hols and whilst out in Calis, someone on the complex had just made wills (been discussed before I know but different question here), they were told that Turkish law has recently been changed so that for FOREIGN owned property when one spouse/partner dies the other gets 25%, the surviving children get 25% split between them and the Governmnet gets the balence of 50% - ]IF no Turkish will has been made!

I believe this to be a load of rot and dont believe it, as in my eyes it appears to be legalised state theft, but can anyone throw any light on the matter please.

PS  Just how can you throw light ?

An official translator who offers Turkish will writing as one of their services by any chance?

Cynical and proud of it :D

There is a bit in one of the local papers this week that they are going to TRY and rethink inheritance laws for foreigners but it's still the same at the moment.
