Saying Hi again - We are buying!!!
« on: January 01, 2005, 14:55:47 PM »
Hi there!  Thought I would just say hi - I asked some questions last year before we went to visit (though I seem to have lost my id from then - sorry scunner, for the unused one now.)  We were out for a week and looked at so many places and finally found one in ‘Mehmet Arkif Ersoy Caddesi' - there seems to be a lot for sale there, so (before we put our deposit down, giggle), does anyone know of any secrets there....toxic waste, etc.?  It looks on the map fairly close to the beach but we didnt have a chance to walk from there.  It is right across from the Harman Hotel and I do hope they are as lovely about letting people use their pool as the hotel where we stayed last year!  BTW, the pool info on the forum will be useful hopefully.

We stayed (now what was the name again?) not in calis but down the beach a bit....a really lovely complex that they told us flooded every year.  That was a shame as it was really gorgeous there., though it was a bit far from everything.  We lived off salami and cheese from the little shop near the complex.  We were supposed to look for one of you for a beer, but we didnt see any british people there until the last two days.  Thank goodness that children dont seem to have a language barrier and turkish girls like little blonde boys.  LOL  Everyone was lovely there.

Thank you all for the information you post.....I've contacted bekir about furnishings.  We are coming back out over the easter holidays - end March & April.  Hopefully we will meet some of you, as we will be coming out a bit more and will be closer to the pubs.  LOL

Thanks again and the happiest of New Years

Freda

Freda,

Sounds like you stayed at Saglik or Cicek. Yes it does flood there but they are spending quite a lot of time and money sorting it out (on Saglik anyway). I understand that new drains are being put in and hopefully, one day, it will all be sorted. As you said, it is lovely (and peaceful) there (but I'm not sure for how much longer having seen the amount of building going on there).

I'm not sure where you bought though. Can you elaborate a little please.

yes, we stayed at saglik.  I wish they had told us they were sorting out the drains there, as there were a couple lovely places there.  However, the big issue was that they said it totally closed in the winter and we wanted to go out during that time.  Also, we had my mom who is quite old with us.  It was just too far away from everything, as we have two older ladies we tote around whereever we go and they cant walk about 50 yards without needing a cup of tea and a fag.  LOL  We are buying in the center of calis (I think, not knowing what is really the center.  If you look at the map on the forum, it is a street almost opposite the aquapark, leading off the main Mustafa...road. It appears to be relatively close to everything, but you easily lose your bearings when you are driving around looking at houses.

was it you we were supposed to track down for that beer?  LOL

rgds, Freda

Freda,

We were there in Sept for a week. Stayed in our place near the pool.

I can understand your worry about the remoteness of Saglik but this was the reason we bought there (plus the price). We also expect it to get much busier up that end in a couple of years and the building work has already begun. Not too sure we want it to get much busier though as we like the tranquility - even if we do have to walk a bit or get a taxi.
