The stabbing of the policeman in Ealing is both shocking and appalling.

But as I understand it, the poor fellow was checking to see if passengers had paid their fares.

Can that really be true:(.

John, I think that what initiated the "ticket check" was the fact that he was recognised as someone who was overdue for return to prison, & an I.D. check was surreptitiously being carried out, under the guise of a ticket check, when he went ape****.
