An unedifying spectacle

The way the world's press swarmed, not only around the hospital where Nelson Mandela was under undergoing treatment, but also around his home.

You can rest assured that there were not there to wish him well.

I wish the man good health in the future.

The News at 10 reported he was home having responded well to treatment and is recovering at home  :)

Seriously, nothing can bring Nelson Mandela down.... not even Chuck Norris :D

Agree with you entirely, John, more like the gathering of the vultures, well the old boy has "foxed" them again.

Another of my true heroes.
He totally changed his country from being run by a crowd of "Kaffir Kickers", to the Democracy that it now is.

Would this be the same "pack of vultures" that risk their lives covering war zones and disaster areas? And next time that you are passing through Soweto, please have a chat with the locals and see how they regard democracy. I too wish Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery.

I always thought that accredited war correspondents covered war stories, sports correspondents covered sports stories, and ambulance chasers hovered around hospitals. Maybe I've had it wrong all along?

The fact that the world's press risk their lives covering war zones and disaster areas surely does not give them the right to behave they did towards Mandela.

Unfortunately no one seems to have a right to privacy now. He is a man who people hold strong views and feelings on. Some for him without reservation others do have doubts. Some of the same media people who are now awaiting the story of his death did of course give him support while he was imprisoned and probably helped him then. I suppose they are entitled to report his demise and who should decide how it is done except them.
