Hello again and thanks.

We found this forum last May thanks to Dave & Janice. We are very grateful to everyone who posts here & shares their knowledge and experiences of buying a house in Turkey. It really helped us through the buying process. We bought a house in Akyaka in October. It's not in our name yet cos we are still waiting for the military checks, but we stayed there in January and the new bathroom's just been fitted. wayhey!

Not sure about site etiquette yet, where would be a good place to recommend our estate agents? They have been fab.

Now we've been thru the buying process, maybe we can contribute something to the forum instead of just reading it!

thanks y'all.

Nige & Lynn

Congratulations on your purchase - the etiquette is quite simple here. If you find an agent/restaurant/car hire firm etc etc that merits praise, praise them here so all can see.

The only occassions when recomendations are not acceptable here is when the company concerned write a recommendation about themselves (often under a made up name - yes it happens fairly often).

So feel free to tell all.

Thanks for welcomes & guidelines. Thanks for asking dippey!!  ;):D

we bought from Roof Estate, Cati Emlak  (thats a c with a thingy under it and an i without a dot!!), in Akyaka. They have been great, so helpful at every stage of the viewing & purchase process.

We'll write something soon about our experience of buying.

whoops, sorry if I broke a rule already :-\ I see the links I put to roofestate websites have been deleted. Is there anywhere that we are allowed to put such links? We're not on commission, honest! Just very pleased with the service.
Dippey I saw your msg, yes I think that's how you pronounce "Cati".

Re the house warming party, when we went over in Jan, we were so busy cleaning, clearing out rubbish and sorting the house out we didn't have time to party, so it'll have to be next visit! We got it nice and warm tho, by burning bits of rotten old balcony wood in the open fire!

We bought a 15 yr old house, with furniture, previously used as a holiday home. Most impressed with the refuse collection service over there. We asked about hiring a skip, but no need - just stick all the junk out in the road and no matter whether it is garden refuse, old cupboards, rusty clothes airers, rugs etc the bin men take it away every day. :o
