We went last September for a couple of days before we flew on to Dalaman and absolutely loved it there, even though it poured with rain the whole weekend.  An amazing city, we stayed in Sultanahmet and will definitely go back there again.  We missed the Aya Sofya as it was closed the only day we were able to get there, but visited the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace.  I was absolutely amazed at the underground Basilica Cisterns, very close to the Mosque.

We went for a few years ago for a ( coughs) lets call it milestone birthday of mine!
Our friend lives there- his family own the Eroz hotel in Calis and we have know them all for many years. We stayed in Taksim next to the British Embassy in fact I think it got partially destroyed in the bomb a few years later. We were there for a long weekend in January and it was freezing! However our friend Altug took us to places not usually on the tourist map and we had a ball! Amongst other thinga, we went across to the Asian side and to the top of the tower and we thought the place was stunning. Would defo consider another trip but did appreciate having a local guide with us 24/7 as I imagine it can be pretty daunting!
