Knock on effect of scrapped Aegean flights

There is one thing that you can be certain of is that all the others flying to Turkey will take full advantage of the recent situation by putting a hefty premium on their flights.

The situation gets further complicated because over the next 2 or 3 weeks as most available seats will be allocated to those H4u clients stuck in Turkey.

The collapse of any tour operator means bad news for the future because it is one less competitor in the market place.

Not sure about from other airports but certainly for next July the TC flights from Manchester have increased on the last 2 consecutive Wednesdays not by alot and not all of them either, currently it is a lot dearer to go in June than July.
Thought like most people yesterday that the knock on affect of Aegean / H4U collapsing could mean higher prices so took the plunge and booked with TC 2 weeks next July for 2 of us including all the extras that like to add on £417.96 which is the same as we paid for this year, which we booked last October.

We're hoping that once the English school holidays are over we'll see the prices level off a little for September and October.  We can easily book again now but it sticks in my throat to be ripped off.  I guess that's the Scot in me.

Sorry to hear Anne...hope you get sorted..its not the scottish in you I feel the same as well.

I luckily saw rhe breaking news about aegean and I had booked for 3 weeks in September next year and they were only £220 for both of us....so I instantly went onto the Monarch website and booked the same dates and they were reasonable as I just knew they would go through the roof.....we flew with them in June and go with  them in 2 weeks time, for the record I honestly believe that Monarch are one of the best, more expensive but in all the times we have been with them we have never been delayed and everything is just good.....but its speak as you find I guess.....I hope I dont live to regret saying that!.

Sorry for you guys who were due to fly soon and have had your hols totally spoilt:( xx

Our Sept 2011 flights via Aegean were booked in May 2010 and cost £275 for the pair of us. When I heard the news on Monday I rebooked with Easy Jet at a cost of £550. After, I wondered if I had "panic bought" but having done further checks I don't think so. Already booked May 2012 with Monarch at £340 for the pair of us (£292 with Aegean) but our daughter works for Monarch and gets 20% discount for family on ZB flights. They only launch MCR/DAL ZB flights in 2012 and this was planned before the demise of Aegean. Just to explain ZB flight numbers are Monarch scheduled flights whilst MON are charters.

knock on effect to us is that we 're having to refund over a £1000 for two bookings, where our
clients can't get reasonable replacement flights, think legally we're entitled to keep the fees, but morally it's the right thing to do !!  hopefully they might re book next year once the dust has settled and hopefully flights come down to a more reasonable price
