What is the going rate for tips in Turkey ie Taxi's, restaurants etc.

We usually go ten percent rounded up to nearest ten.

It really depends on the service etc But we usually round up the bill ie, 28tl Leave 30 tl, 89tl leave 95 or 100 tl depending on the service or how you feel

I tip taxi drivers NOTHING :D

None of the Turkish friends I know tip them so why are we over there upsetting the way of things!

No I dont tip taxi drivers either But I will round the money up to the next lira Ie 7tl 50krs to 8tl But never a large tip

I always leave 10% but am in the USA right now where the norm seems to be approaching 20% !!!

Its not expected in Turkey for taxi drivers to be tipped... and bearing in mind that it is something like 100 x more expensive to use taxis here than in Istanbul and virtually anywhere else in Turkey then no one should feel bad or guilty about not tipping.

Not related to the topic as such, but the cost of the Dolmus in this area is also grossly over priced compared to else where in Turkey.

Tipping in restaurants for good service is the norm in Turkey and expected at about 10% but as Jules says many people round up...
