True, nightmare doesn't cover it.  That's just awful - why couldn't it land in Aberdeen - weather?

We had a similar experience in January - our flight from Tenerife ( hate the place these days ) circled Manchester for ages because of the snow, started getting low on fuel so diverted to Liverpool.  Planned to bus us back to Manchester (only about an hour's journey) but decided to keep us on the tarmac until they could re-fuel and fly back to Manchester.  4 hrs flight - 8.5 hours sat on the plane.....Nowhere near as bad as Brenda's experience, but bad enough.

Should have said Bluwise, the problem was fog.

Why doesn't a jumbo jet have fog lights in this day and age.  ;)

Poor Brenda, what a nightmare especially on your own.  When the holiday is finished you just want to get home.

We had a trip with the family  a few years ago.  Got to Dalaman and we were told flight was delayed and we were going to Manchester and would be bussed to Glasgow.
Should have been back in Glasgow around 1am and finally arrived at 9 in the morning.

Just horrible, but I bet you're just pleased to have her home safe and sound. Didn't bump into Brenda at all, but hope to see you both next time

kayakebab, linda - thanks we will make a point of meeting up next time.

kenkay - it was Thomas Cook. And yes Brenda said she very much enjoyed your and the other residents of Violets Residents company.

And we cannot thank Anne & Billy enough. The first thing that Brenda said was how simply great they had been to her. Very special people.  :)
