Sometimes wish I wasnt so honest !!!

Visited Gocek yesterday with two friends . Place was like a ghost town and I have honestly seen more people there in the winter . We stopped for a drink and had one Nescafe two ceftali's and one lemonade. The bill came and was for 9 lira so being honest called the waitress over and said they had undercharged us. Much discussion and the bill was returned for ....wait for it ...31 lira . Queried it again and 3rd time they made it 27 lira PLUS 2 lira service charge. What a massive rip off and no wonder the place was deserted.In Fethiye three of go for a chicken salad with rice and chips plus a drink for less than that in total. Do they think we all own one of those beautiful yachts in the harbour.

Yes, I had a similar experience in Gocek, probably around 6 years ago. If I go now, as you face the sea, turn right & over the bridge & there's a bar right on the water's edge. Lovely surroundings & not crazy prices

I don't know how we missed you Mavis we were the only other people there. Had lunch at the Limon very nice, Oozy from Mimosa works there with Sahine from Eyna. Drinks were average price as was food.

You should have accepted the price and just left a bigger tip based on what you thought it was worth ;-)

It is difficult and I woulkd probably have doen exactly the same!

Mind you it can pay off! Local Tesco which I rarely visit as my anti-supermarket rants here
are known! However my local "Offy" was closed so little choice. Took the Whisky to the checkout where the young man asked me £8.60, queried it and said that is what my till says, suggested he got a supervisor, who said she would be back -- returned with the Manager who said "put it through at £8.60" and this is for you Sir thanking you for your honesty and potentially saving xxxxx a lot of money. A voucher for £20!

So, I got my Scotch for less than half price and £20!

But, even if I had got nothing and paid the full amount, I would have felt good being Honest!

I always told bars if the bill was wrong whether it was in our favour or not.
By the way, Hubbles, I thought service charges were included in the price.?
