Consider catching the Belediye service bus, half the price, goes right into Fethiye town centre, always runs via the main road. They run every half hour on the hour/ half hour starting from outside the Seril Hotel, the drivers have a breakfast break so it's either the 10 or 10.30 am which does not run, you do need to be at a proper bus stop as you can't just wave them down.

The timetables are on display in the bus shelters.  It is worth noting that they also have a lunch break spanning 1.30 to 3.00 between the two buses I think.

Take a torch with you, that road is dark at night, also don't wear all dark clothing and watch out for bikes as they never have lights on.
We drive passed the Pelin when on our way home, and the number of people walking in the middle of the road in the pitch dark is amazing, just as amazing as the bikes with no lights.
