Christmas Eve traditions?

We have a few Christmas Eve traditions in our house. We all have a 'tree' present to open which is always new pyjamas.
We have home made Chinese ribs for tea followed by home made chocolate cake.
We always have a snowball before supper.
Does anyone else have things that they do on Christmas Eve?

Wow we have the tradition of the Christmas Eve present (which is always pyjamas!) but just for the kids. It's lovely to see them going off to bed the night before Christmas in their new jammies  

Our other Christmas Eve tradition since we moved back to the UK is most important...chippy tea!!!

Hilary has always insisted we follow her family tradition of eating cold meats and pickles on Christmas Eve. Yes I know it is all wrong and you are supposed to be having cold meats after Christmas but I have to make some effort to keep it the "Season of Goodwill". Of course, for the Germans, Christmas Eve is the BIG traditional day of the season. I was reminded of this recently, due to a CBF editorial glitch, by a tale of a Germanic Christmas Eve "do" we attended in Turkey.

it used to be mass and a meal but sadly with the passing of time ( and people) that one has been lost!
now its peeling and prepping and the annual 'stand pie' and pickles , followed by Zantac!

We have a sofa picnic of party / snack food in the living room followed by me reading 'Twas the night before Christmas' to my son before bed. He is 13yrs old now but we all still look forward to it. It will be special in a completely new way this year as, as well as my son, we also have our new daughter to read to.
