Please don't tar us all with the same brush, Keith!
Most journalists are ethical, hard-working and interested in reporting the truth about real news.
(I refer here to those like myself who undertook extensive training and have the qualifications to prove it; sadly, with the advent of citizen 'journalism' it seems every Tom, Dick & Harriet are quick to call themselves reporters and editors.)
As with many professions it's the rotten few that give us all a bad name and sadly, with tabloid/celeb/gossip news sources being the most eagerly devoured by the public, that's where they tend to end up. It's an incredibly cut-throat arena - not that I am for a second defending the person involved in this, I find such tactics as deplorable as anyone.
