Raised on tripe and onions,pie eels and mash,still have to stop when i see a pie and mash shop.You cant buy tripe anymore in the uk only in the pet shop for pets its colour is green i beleave untill its bleached white,mind you it used to stink the house out for days after cooking it,still love though and im a southerner.

Someone on FB suggested a thread on CBF for food that you've never tried but don't like  . Well tripe is mine but I swear I will try it one day  just read oscarj's post further down. Perhaps I should read them all before commenting

When I was a kid my gran would come for her tea on tuesday. mum, dad and gran had lemon sole.
I had tripe because my gran said it was good for me.I used to heave as I ate it cold with vinegar.
it tasted of nothing but it was the feel of it that got me. Now I'm addicted to vinegar!

We wre so poor my mother used to send me to the butchers for a sheeps head and to ask him to cut it as near the tail as possible.Also to leave the eyes in,to see us through the week?

One of the few things that I do like about living in the UK is that you can easily get tripe, pig's trotters, tails, ears etc.

My local Asda has an Halal section and sell a lot of sheep's feet and the Halal butchers
sell lots of chicken feet. I can't see anything edible on either.
My father in law was a butcher and used to say the only part of a pig you can't sell is the squeal.
