indi bindi
« on: October 15, 2014, 18:14:24 PM »
Looking at the charges on a local dolmus ride a few weeks ago - I noticed that under the official prices listed there was a listing called : indi bindi

Any ideas :-)

I think it is a "short hop" journey. In Bristol it is "3 stops for a £". But you have to wait a long time for a dolmus here.

For example the cost from Fethiye to Uzumlu is 4 Lira Or from Fethiye to incirkoy via Uzumlu is 4.75. Between the two villages its called indi bindi and the cost is 2 Lira

It means literaly Get get off-get on as opposed do a designated journey eg Fethiye to Hisaronu.  Logicaly it should be Bindi Indi because you have to get on before you can get off ;D

Does this mean that anything less than the full designated journey is indi bindi?

Do you have to ask for indi bindi or should the driver just charge accordingly.

I have always found dolmus drivers to be meticulous in the matter of charging. If you paywhen you get off then I bet you'll be charged the appropriate price. For example, last month we caught a dolmus from Marmaris otogar and asked for "Ataturk" (i.e. his statue on the seafront) and paid a two lira each (for two of us). When we got near the seafront we got stuck in a traffic light jam, and since we were only a hundred yards from the front and the door was open we jumped off. As we walked past the stationary dolmus the driver honked the horn and shouted at us to come over. I thought we might be told off for jumping off without notice. On the contrary, the driver wanted to give me one lira back because we hadn't done the full journey.

There might be lots of rip-offs inTurkey but i have never experienced one on the dolmus. Perhaps I have been lucky?

You must have dreamt that one Colwyn, next thing you'll be telling us is that this driver drove with safety and concern for passengers and other road users alike.  ;)

An absolute model. The Marmaris Dolmus Coop drivers are forbidden from watching Turkish subtitled screenings of Top Gear - or anything else featuring the vile Clarkson.
