Can someone give us an update on the current exchange rate in Calis please?
Changed £50 this morning in our local Thomas Crook and got 3.4!   :o   Hope it's better than that over there.

Blimey, Thomas Cook are running a proper rip-off. In the UK, Moneycorp, pick up your money at the airport, is 3.997 for today. In Turkey, good plastic was 4.085 for yesterday (cards get charged next working day). Both are for changing £50 worth. That's TC deducting 30TL of your money because you chose them.

What is good about the airport pick-up deals (the one I use anyway) is that if the £ goes down you still get the rate at which you ordered; if the £ goes up you get the better rate on the day. Rather good that, I think.

Knew I shouldn't have gone in there, I don't usually touch them but was in a bit of a rush and it was the nearest place.  I won't be bringing any more lira over with us, just get sterling from cash machine and change it there so it was just to have some lira straight away.

My own fault for not checking rate and walking out!   >:(

Lesson learnt, don't use Thomas Cook or check rates before you buy.

Thanks Colwyn, didn't realise you could get such good deals at the airports either.  Never too old to learn eh?   ;)

Don't know about that AllyB, we only ever change cash but I think they do post on here occasionally so maybe will reply to your post.

To get best Moneycorp deals you must order and pay online between 24 hours and 30 days in advance. But even if you just walk up and ask at the desk the rate would still have been 3.8TL.
