I'm a bit homesick but returning to Fethiye on Monday.
In the meantime, I altered a few words of a rather famous song:
'Take Me Home, Turkish Roads'
Almost heaven, Western Turkey, Mendos Mountains, Xanthos River.
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, blowing a Calis breeze.
Turkish roads, take me home to the place I belong.
Western Turkey, mountain anne, take me home, Turkish roads.
All my memories from around there, Fethiye harbour, Olu Deniz's blue water.
Bright and dusty, pollen in the sky, sharp taste of ayran, teardrop in my eye.
Turkish roads, take me home to the place I belong.
Western Turkey, mountain anne, take me home, Turkish roads.
I hear the azan in the morning hour, he calls me, the calling reminds me of my home far away.
And driving down Fethiye's road I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.
Calis road, take me home to the place I belong.
Dearest Fethiye, mountain anne, take me home, Turkish roads.
Fethiye road, take me home to the place I belong.
Ovacik hill, mountain evim, take me home, Turkish roads
Take me home now, Turkish roads,
Take me home now, Turkish roads.
