Hi,
Just a quick point, if you are not resident in Turkey, ie. if you normally reside outside Turkey, what they actually seem to want is a utility bill for your main residence, in your home country.  I had opened accounts for my daughter and her boyfriend, and am having to supply U.K. utility bills for their accounts.  N.B. when you opened your bank accounts the bank took photocopies of your passports and tax numbers, so they already have those.  They do not require originals so you can fax or e=mail, if you are not going to be out here before 1/6/2009.

Hope this helps.

I have just read through this complete thread, as I received an email earlier today from a friend who has an apartment on our complex, telling us about the deadline for producing a utility bill at our Turkish bank before June.

Don't quite know how I have managed to overlook this whole thread till now!

Since we opened our account with the HSBC in Fethiye about 16 months ago, we have moved house.  Our utility bills from the UK will therefore not have the same address that is on our bank account in Turkey.  Will this be a problem?  We have only ever received one letter from the bank in Fethiye, and as our post is still on divert from our previous address, we received it okay.

Just panicking now, as we wont be over until Easter.  We will bring a bill with us, but will they accept it with our new address on?

Thanks for any helpful advice.

You will need to update your new address with them at the same time.

Thanks Baz.  Do you think we should take in something with our old address on as well (the address that they have?)

Thanks again.   :)

Thanks for your help.   :)

Have also emailed our estate agent with our new address.  They still currently have power of attorney with access to our account, until we come over next and take their name off.  Maybe they will be able to change our address with the bank before we arrive.  If not, we'll sort it out on arrival.   ;)

PS: Baz, when you see Howard and Val, say "hi and merry christmas" from Julie, Gaz & girls! Will catch up with them on our next visit.

Hi Jules, have you checked to see if you can change your address online via HSBC internet banking service? If you can, then maybe you can send them an email with an attachment copy of your driving licence or a utility bill showing your new address
