Seems like Lucinda has been lurking all this time, looking for the opportunity to post to someone that she told them so :D

7 lira still isn't bad for a shave! That fact won't go away Lucinda...

As philrose says, "there is a lot of difference between a shave and a shave and a haircut". Given that the price of a haircut is normally about twice that of a shave that would put our experiences firmly on a par.

If by "lurking" you mean logging on to CBF and reading the topics but only occasionally posting then I am guilty of that, along with a large number of your other page viewers I would imagine.

As my straw-poll indicates 7tl is excessive for a shave. Just ask Tom.

It simply begs the question of why your replies to the same set of circumstances were so different and you didn't tell Tinkerman

Simple really.

But then I don't suppose one would need to be Einstein to work that out......... ;)

I would expect your husband to do that. A lad on his first morning of his holiday is slightly different. You are becoming obsessed by this.

How about asking the price first and saving all the grief.  I think that 20 Lira is a rip off but compared to the UK it's probaly a bargain. I pay over £10 in the UK for my hair cut ( and it literally is a hair)  seriously though I get really miffed when I continually hear Brits boasting that they were in the market and got the Guy down from £5 to £3  Shop around but be prepared to share the wealth folks. . . .

Hubby paid 17 lira for a haircut and a shave when we were over a couple of weeks ago.  He was thrilled with this price (about £7).  He even left the change of a 20 lira note as a tip!  He pays about £10 at home just for a quick cut, and the job is done in a few minutes flat, with all the usual idle talk ("you going out tonight?"/"been working today?"/"going on holiday in the summer?" etc etc).

In Calis, for his £7, he was pampered just like us women are!  He was in the hairdressers for about an hour, and said it was the most relaxing hour of his life!!  The haircut was good too.   :)

It was the first time he had had a haircut and shave in Turkey, and he can't wait to come back in August, where he will happily pay this price again.  I suppose if you live there, you've got time to shop around and find the best price.  I guess you pay what you feel happy to pay, and if it keeps him happy - £7 is well worth it.  :D
