Working With The Bars To Solve This Problem
« on: August 17, 2009, 14:53:38 PM »
Now I'm not there anymore, I'm going to need help from those living in Calis and those on holiday.

What I want to do is publish a list/topic of bars and restaurants that are happy to offer customers a free lift home if they are leaving late in the evening/early hours. This always used to be part of the service years ago  :) - reiterating AGAIN that this activity is not usual in Calis, but it is important that ladies walking home late at night shouldn't be doing it alone (or in just girl groups).

Bars and restaurants who join our list should benefit from people going who maybe wouldn't normally have, so a quick lift home isn't going to break the bank.

So many members get on well with the staff of their favourite establishments, so if you get a chance, can you pop in and explain what we are trying to do, and ask if they will join our list?

This has benefits to all, as far as I can see.

Thanks, let us know...

Thats a very good idea, hope they all support it, at the end of the day hopefully the ones that do should see the benefit in income compared to the ones that don't....assuming there are some that don't?.

I know that the Birlik in Koca Calis offers this and he has a mini bus too. I often see them taking customers home.

Looks like we are not out there again this year:( so I can't ask any others. However I'm sure Guven would be one to speak to - and he is married to the lovely Carol and I'm sure both of them would be sympathetic to this great idea.

It happens anyway, I can't see how a taxi driver can complain about a restaurant giving customers a lift home. That's customer service, something Turkey excels at (as well as excelling at jealous groups complaining at others  :) )

But if nobody goes out because of this then no taxis will be used anyway.

Maybe someone should approach the taxis to see if they will offer cheaper fares to females on their own or in small groups.

I think I mentioned in a post a while back that a group of volunteers called Street Angels have set up in York to help lone women and those too drunk (male or female) to know when might be putting themselves in danger. They help them find taxi ranks and walk with them - or put them on the correct bus. Simple things to make sure they are safe. I'm not sure this could work in a place like Calis as I feel that volunteers would be scarce - but maybe it's something the bars could organise between them? After all it's got to be better for them if people can come out knowing that they can get home safely.

Or maybe the bars could organise discounts with the taxi drivers/companies?

The reason my last great (?) idea didn't work:

Idea: Let the bars on the prom wait on the piece of beach directly in front of them, and in allowing this they will keep their part clean

Reason it didn't happen: "Other bars who aren't on the seafront would complain because they don't have a section of beach to look after".

Geography, it's a right p*ss*r sometimes

Anyway, let's keep on topic :D
