I know around 50 stronger players that supply others with opportunities to score far better than Heskey does!

Scunners original question still not answered. Not one positive post but I fancy he will start the next England game. I don't get it either but Cappello seems to. Maybe that's why he got offered the  manager's job and I didn't.

He must have something or he wouldn't wear the shirt!  ;)

Surely a half decent manager like Cappello couldn't overlook 50 other better players if he really was that bad! could he?  :o:D

Capello is more than a half decent manager....I have tons of respect for they guy...he was probably just giving Heskey a 'go' to prove what he always really thought about him!....I mean....I have never seen such a big chap knocked off the ball so easily, and he would tripover a matchstick!, and miss goals....well what can I say.....we have much better...thats what I say ;)...come on Mr Capello...play the game..............

I've been researching :D

Apparently managers like Heskey not for his goals or even his holding the ball up linkwork. They rate him for the space he creates for others. For 40 grand a week I'd make space for others, I didn't know you could be a professional footballer without being able to kick a ball straight :D

Maybe a bigger pitch or picking smaller players is the way forward.
A loft conversion might do the trick.

Not my fav player but he does a job for the team and that's what the manager wants.

I think I read that there are some stats somewhere that show we win more games when he's in the team - and winning is what it's all about even if he can't score himself.

Another Villa fan here and Emile Ivanhoe Heskey is no great shakes in my book either the only reason i can think of and why the lump is picked for both Villa and England is that when he does apply himself a bit he not only creates space for others but by falling over so much actually takes opposing players out with him which leaves the nippier shoot on site accurate platers a sight of goal
