Anyone had this experience
« on: October 06, 2009, 19:08:08 PM »
At Dalaman airport Sunday I went through the security at the front door twice after first putting suitcases in then going out for a cigarette. On both occasions I had a large amount of money in my hand luggage no problems at all at this security check.when I went through the second security at the gate the guy asked me to put all my bags on the desk this time large amount of money and large amount of duty free the guy then asks for my passport and for me to open the bag so I say what is the problem he replies no problem looks at me and says change money tip. Not wanting any delays I say OK he pockets my change pretends to write in the book on the desk and lets me go. Anyone else had this experience.

I've never had an experience like that at the airport but it is an incident that doesn't surprise me one bit.

Sunday, 18-15pm flight, gate 26, same thing, pulled over when through x-ray machine, didn't know what might be the problem, security guard looked in bags etc. said all ok. wrote down passport no. then indicated I could go. Went to pick up bags and loose change(from plastic tray)about 9TL he pointed to money saying leave as tip for us,
I looked at him and he at me while I put it all in my pocket. Then in my best turkish I explained why I would not leave the money for him. He was I think takenaback that a foreigner spoke to him in turkish, or I was just lucky on that occasion, but I didn't leave him anything thank goodness.

Wasn't at the airport though!  You obviously had similar "friends" to us, lol!   :o :)

PS:  We didn't give him the money, and he doesn't speak to us anymore - don't know why!  :(

If you want to make a complaint directly to the airport management, I have the name and email address of the Assistant General Manager. Contact me if you want it.
