Value for money and a lovely setting, the Zakkum resturant & cafe bar near Migros has become a favourite of  mine this year and many owners from our complex.

Tinx - I think we mean it is set in a small garden / walled park and although the road is close by you feel as though you are in a peaceful setting which is also unexpected on such a busy main road - hope that makes sense!

Col - correct me if I am wrong?

Ps In the winter you eat inside!!! :D

Yes Ian, totally agree and at night, you don't really notice the traffic and sometimes far better than hundreds of people walking past & easy enough to fine a nice quiet table in the garden

For 2009 my vote goes to Oben restaurant.Good traditional home cooking
and they even prepared a special vegetarian meal for us one evening.
The meals requested werent on their menu, but no problem for them with 24 hrs notice.
Roll on 2010 till I can sample the many Calis restuarants again and give my 2010 vote!

I must admit they do a great all day English breakfast at the Zakkum and their fish and chips are also pretty good but there are so many good restaurants, serving all different types of food in the area, that we are totally spoiled. I certainly would not like to choose what I think is the best as I do not know how you can compare a friendly traditional Turkish restaurant against a high class Italian - its horses for courses and they all have their place.
