OK - this was in the Sun as well but I think this is true  ;)

In the paper today they have a pull out from 40 years ago - makes me wonder what we did at night with the TV offerings:

BBC1
9.38 - Schools
1.55 Tipyn O Steil
1.30 Watch With Mother
1.45-1.53 News
2.05 Schools
4.10 Expanding Classroom
4.40 Jackanory
4.45 Blue Peter
5.20 Pegasus
5.44 Hector's House
5.50 News
6.00 London This Week (regions vary)
6.20 Ask The Family
6.45 Z Cars
7.10 The Andy Williams Show
8.00 Panorama
8.50 Main News
9.10 Take Three Girls
(it's getting to the good stuff now ;))
10.00 The Kenneth McKellar Show with Moira Stewart
11.05 Made In Britain: a British week in Hamburg
11.20 Weather
11.22 Decide For Yourself
Close

BBC2 did have -- 8.00 The High Chaparral & 9.10 - Broaden Yor Mind with Tim Brook Taylor and Graeme Garden.

Those were the days :)

That's really sad Stoop. Sad because I remember them all :o.

As for Kenneth McKellar - never liked him. Stayed at a hotel I worked at in London. Swanned about the place as though he was some kind of huge star.:(

It's extraordinary how one thread leads to another. I was a clapper/loader on Z cars in my formative years at the BEEB.Only one of actors could drive at the time and the Corporation ,in their wisdom employed a "diminuative" bloke to operate the foot controls - exciting and scary at the same time. Health and safety - I don't think so but never a dull moment ! ps for all you Ulster folk it was one of your own who actually had passed his test!

And 40 years on people are still dumping their fridges in laybys

My kids find it entirely amusing that there was once a time when there were only 3 channels, and to change them you had to walk to the telly :D

Did anyone stand for the National Anthem at the end of each days programmes?
