Hear hear!!.Yes we are sophisticated....We don't drink out of jam jars anymore, and though we eat our fair share of scouse (which is absolutely delicious) we do enjoy the finer things in life! [^]

Mr Scunner, Not all scousers are scallys. My brother, who was born in one of the roughest parts of Liverpool is a barrister, and my lovely, 21 year old daughter just got her BA in law...and does voluntary work in a local (free) law clinic. There are some bad scallys in Liverpool, but there are also scallys all over the United Kingdom. We Scousers are the salt of the earth, and are renowned all over the world for our kindness, friendliness and our sense of humour.

Of course you are right, we shouldn't judge scousers on stereotypes of nearly 30 years ago. I do apologise.

Oh, on another subject. Anyone see the Royle Family on Christmas Day? Fantastic to watch the everyday lives of "sophisticated people" :D

I prefer Scousers to "sophisticated people" ;).

PS I may even consider myself to be "sophisticated" now that can spell it :o

One particular experience springs to mind when the flight was delayed at Glasgow, we were all sitting on the plane waiting for two Grannies who finally appeared very much worst for wear and sung us such lovely songs on our journey to Dalaman  The flight back were always interesting too, with the tee-shirts from Marmaris bars, henna tattoos, hair platting and peeling skin.
We will be going from Aberdeen, however, as there are now vacancies
for flights from Aberdeeen maybe another carrier may decide to start flights from Aberdeen along side T.Cook?

Don't you like us Weegies then Jacqui[?]:D

Ah yes, the Royle Family. A sit-com about a Family in Manchester which is written by Caroline Aherne, who was born in London and raised in Manchester and Craig Cash, born in Manchester. The Series is filmed in Salford, Manchester. This is such a good example of Southerner's  being confused about where exactly Liverpool is.
Now if you want to see something filmed in Liverpool how about the new Sherlock Holmes Film or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or perhaps Nowhere Boy the new film about a real Liverpool lad John Lennon. Yes, the film makers are queuing up to film the in City of Culture.:P ;)

P.S. Sorry Dycedon, and thanks for the tip about Thomas Cook[:X]
Jacqui.
