I've unsubscribed from that forum, some right dodgy characters, the more I read the more I felt I didn't want to go to Thailand. Have found a much more civilised one now and cant wait to go and explore.
The current dilemma is whether I can bear to forfeit 2 weeks in Calis in October - that and how many diarrhoea tablets I would need to
buy to avoid nasty incidents!

You'll love Thailand; its a great country although a little volatile sometimes.

But it is a big place, are you travelling around? Recommend the Lonely Planet if you are...

we're trying to prioritise..... thinking at the moment to fly to Bangkok, a few days there, then train to Chiang Mai, a few days, then fly to Kuala Lumpur, a few days there, maybe Penang too, then fly back to Bangkok, but have now been reading about orang utans in Borneo and want to go there. Original plan was 2 weeks, but now wish I could take a year off work and do Singapore, Vietnam, China & Hong King too.
Damn job!

I loved Chiang Mai; great night market with loads of restaurants and you can do a day trip to see the Mhong women - a really great day out. I am quite jealous.

There is never enough time to see and do everything - the main thing I learned from my time there is its better to do less places and do those well; and avoid always being on the move unless you can afford to fly around.

Travel by bus or train is a great way to see the country though, but can be tiring and time consuming...
