advance passenger info

I booked flights with Pegasus in February, but don't think we were asked to complete a Advanced Passenger Information form. However regarding E-Borders information, subsequent flights booked with Thomas Cook said:

From 20th January 2010, bookings created that are due to depart the UK from 1st February onwards, please be aware of the following:
For entry to Dalaman, you must provide Advanced Passenger Information between 3 months and 7 days before departure. You will need passport and flight details for all passengers. Failure to comply with all requirements may result in delays, refused boarding or denied entry to the country you are entering. The final decision on entry is determined by Border Authorities.

You also need to re-confirm your flights at least 48 hours prior to departure, and you must present all pages of your itinerary, your passport and any relevant travel documents at check-in at least 2 hours before departure. Failure to do so will result in you being denied travel.

The API can be done online with Thomas Cook, but I can't see a form on the Pegasus website. Has anyone flying with Pegasus had to do this yet and if so how did they go about it. We are flying on 7 May. Any help here welcome. Many thanks.

Why don't they make life easy and arrange for all the required info to be supplied at the time of booking[?]

Since API is a government controlled requirement I presume that the operative word is "departed". Pegasus, KTHY etc being Turkish airlines are returning when leaving UK and presumably the Turkish Government has not invoked the requirement.

I went on Thomas Cook site today to give the information but it now says that you only have to give it 28 days before departure, - will try again in a few weeks.

Our Thomas Cook tickets booked for June say "For entry to Dalaman, you must provide Advanced Passenger Information between 3 months and 7 days before departure" so best to double check with them direct if you are unsure.

There seems to be quite a lot open to interpretation over the API issue regarding what is and is not required - not just amongst passengers - but the airlines themselves.

Yes I saw that http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Foreigntravel/AirTravel/DG_176737 has information on registering your API

It says your airline will usually ask you to supply the passenger details found on the ‘machine-readable' page of your passport - that is the page containing your photograph, AND you may occasionally be asked for additional information - such as the address of your first night's stay.

But if your information is not taken either at the time of booking I assume it will by default be taken by an automated passport reader during check-in. Then it says in most cases, if you do not provide your API in the time required, you may not be allowed to travel. A bit ambiguous I think as I can't see how anyone can avoid giving their AP information automatically as everyone has to show their passport - in which case why do some airlines ask for it in advance as well?

So far it's a mystery but we are trying to avoid a nasty surprise at the airport.

Hi, I have read (most of) the posts regarding API, am I right in saying if I am flying out to Dalaman with Pegasus and back with TCook I only have to register my details with TCook?

I assume that it is in order to avoid delays at check in. Imagine the impact on a Thomas Cook all destinations check in queue of some 300 people who are Turkey bound each having to provide API at check in. At even 10 seconds it would cause 50 minutes delay to following passengers.

It would be interesting to get feedback from people who have since 1 April been through the check in process with Thomas Cook both having provided the info in advance and not.
