If I had a shaky fist smiley I'd put it here :D

I thought Dolores O'Neill might have been right! Not knowing much about band leaders I appreciated the football clue. Famously Brian Clough left Martin O'Neill on the bench for the European Cup final, so that was one O, all I needed to do is search google for a band leader, surname O'Neill and first name containing two further O's

2. Our mystery band leader has something in common with- C de G ,D ben G and a Scouser

David ben Gurion is the name of the airport in Tel Aviv and Liverpool airport is named after John Lennon. I first learned of this "puzzle" from a Welsh guy in a pub in Cardiff - couldn't work it out even after many drinks so he eventualy had to tell me.Then I shot him...
