Whether you think it's right or wrong, it was always inevitable.

Can you let me know where approx MacDonalds will be as I have no idea where the Tatlitest Restaurant used to be, that was quoted as the new site at the start of this thread.

Tatlitest was at the other side of the road to where the 90 degree corner of the harbour is. Between the sea and Tuesday market.

Some people like McDonalds.  Some don't.  Some would prefer it not to be in our part of Turkey, some disagree.  Some say you don't have to go into McDonalds if you don't like it, -that's true.  Some say its 'progress'.  We all have different opinions, that's life.  Yes it may have been inevitable, but I still think it's a shame.

But this has been discussed before -re Burger King...

My concern is for the small private individual donner kebab shops, who cannot hope to compete with the financial backing/marketing of these chains.
Just observe the school children now, where they have fresh meat/bread/salad followed by ayran. Then compare it with Macs/Burger King..burgers/Chips and pop.

DaveG's post was the most pertinent of all the comments so far and should possibly be the swansong of this topic, saying that we can see from our own country the effect of McD's/BKing's marketing of crap/junk food(food is possibly a mis-description)with hindsight should our elders have allowed this type of food factory to gain a foothold in the UK???

You can't walk past a McDonalds/Burger King/ KFC etc etc these days without being forced to go in there by one of their "chuckers-in" can you?  ;)

We all have a choice. In fact, where and what they eat is one of the few things that most people can still freely choose.

Or should our forefathers have taken the decision on what we are allowed to eat away from us? I hope not to see you complaining in any "nanny state" topics Peter  ;)
