"Dolphinarium plans create major protest"

The local Fethiye press today reported that the Vali (Mugla governor) and the Kaymakam are investigating the dolphinarium with the help of/and under the direction of, the ministry of the environment in light of the 'walk' and the huge number of complaints they have received.
Well you have all made their heads ache, well done!
Let us hope they come up with the sort of decision we would like to see, but this is not the UK and the criteria used will almost certainly be based on the law and from what I understand that may depend more on the use of land and local business interests and rights rather than the welfare of dolphins.
Anyway enough of surmising it is an important step taken, just hope it moves in the direction we want.

RESULT RESULT RESULT RESULT

YOU HEARD IT FIRST HERE NOW OFF TO FB...:D

A couple of nights ago we two Dolphin Angels were up until 3am writing yet another letter.

This time to Dr. Çom General Director of Primary Health Care.

Perihan who runs the Animal Aid Shelter in Uzumlu near Fethiye was in Ankara on business related to the neutering of 1 million dogs in Turkey and the she bought up for us the issue of the Hisarönü Dolphin Park with Dr. Çom.

He said immediately tell the girls (that's us) to write me a letter explaining their concerns. We got a phone call from Perihan at about midnight and then between us we wrote a letter which was finally sent along with our attachments at three in the morning.

It took a day to translate the letter. This morning Inspectors from Mugla arrived  at Hisarönü Dolphin Park, instructed by Dr: Çom with signed authority from the Turkish Minister of Health to take water samples and to test it.

The RESULT is that it IS NOT FIT FOR HUMANS TO SWIM IN and here is a little bit of advance warning for our dear Başkam, tomorrow he will receive a letter telling him that under no circumstances are humans to be allowed to swim in that water.

And NOT ONLY THAT the water will now also be tested by a Biologist qualified to carry out the tests to see if it is fit for DOLPINS.

Oh and by the way they asked to see the license and of course as we knew there is still NO License...

A little bit of who you know and errrr who said letter writing didn't make a difference?  ;)
