Unfortunately in situations like this it is always the people who are trying to support a family who suffer!!  For the ordinary people who worked on this site whether they agreed with what the job was or not it was a means to an end!  They were only trying to support their family!
I have been guilty in the past of 'Going off topic' on this so would like to say .............
keep focusing on the object .........
STOP THIS DOLPHINARIUM FROM OPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Nichola you replied before me.
So what was in the contract that he can't get out of?  He said he only leased the land (Which was public land) and didn't know what it was to be used for!  Could it be that there is something in the lease that says it will be used as a Dolphinarium? and that is why the Russian is just sitting back?  Could he be threatening legal action against the Mayor and local Government?
Just a thought!!

Re: my previous post regarding signing the main Turkish online petition - I found that if I opened another window and did it from the new window there was no delay.  Just copied and pasted the address.
Interesting about the water?

I contacted Earth Island Institute a while ago to ask for their help/Ric O'Barry's help. I just heard back from them, this is their message:

HI , I forwarded your information to WDCS who is to contact you.Ric Obarry
is on travel the next several weeks.  If you find that we could get some
good press and activity in Turkey let us know.
Thanks Mark

I would like to ask the Dolphin Angels if this is helpful? I am not sure if it is possible to get some press and activity in Turkey as I am so far away. But if you feel that you can do somthing with this, let me know and I will let Earth Island Institute know.

You can email me at: krieny@casema.nl

I wish there was more that I could do...

Hi Carina

everything anyone does it helpful except we have found that beyond writing the odd email the overseas NGOs have felt this to be the extent of the involvement they can give. WDCS is very aware of the situation and they have been the most helpful organisation.

We are at the stage now where the next move will be for the owner to try to move the Dolphins.

All I can say at this time is that he does not have the necessary permission to move the Dolphins and he would be ill advised to
try...

Thanks for your help

The water level is now at the level of the shelf, about 1.5 m below the proposed level. Looks like a leak or something has occurred that needed a fix, several patches were plastered up and re-painted yesterday.

If the 'Puddle' doesn't meet EU standards - it is only 912 cubic metres, the positioning of it would be horrendous for the dolphins, lack of natural water, environmental issues, no back up generator installed for when the electricity goes down which will cause bacteria to form, heat the 'Puddle' up which will be a danger healthwise for humans, and dolphins! The lack of proper testing of the water, lack of an on-site vet, conditions will cause DISTRESS not only to the dolphins but anyone visiting the site et etc...
The list is ENDLESS as to why this dolphinarium mustn't be allowed to open!!
The 'Puddle' obviously is now leaking!
The Min of Ag say they cannot grant a licence to open until the dolphins are in-situ, that means they will be transported from Kas by road, after being greased and packed in some ice!!  How long would it take for ice to melt at this time of year?  Anybody know how long the journey would be for them?
Doesn't someone have to issue a licence for their transportation if so and you know who it would be can you please post on here!
What is the Min of Ag going to say if the dolphins die in transportation or when they are in-situ for their inspection and the 'Puddle' leaks to the extent that the poor things are starved of oxygen, the power fails .........
HOW WOULD THIS VENTURE GIVE CREDABILITY TO OLU DENIZ BEING A NATURE RESERVE?
I ALSO ASK AGAIN WHY IS THE SEA WATER IN THE AREA PROTECTED, THE TURTLES ARE PROTECTED, FLORA AND FAUNA ARE PROTECTED WHY AREN'T THE DOLPHINS?

maybe it is time to take this up with the minister of agrucultre as it is he who will grant the final licence as to what actually goes into the "puddle". Keramittin Yilmaz only gave the licence for a swimming pool in Hisaronu not the licence for dolphins to be put in to it, I have that on good authority dont forget I am 100% against his venture going ahead but feel we need to be fair to people.

Ongoing communications with the Ministry of Agriculture are taking place.

If you check the Hurriyet articles you will see that the Mayor was well aware that a Dolphinarium was planned and he thought it would be a good for tourism.

We do not advocate anyone attacking the Mayor or anyone else about the decision rather that people confine themselves to the facts and raising their objections in a respectful manner.

We are sure that the decisions made were made in good faith at the time but now as a result of a heightened awareness of the relevant issues and the potential risks to the Dolphins, the general public and the non conformance to the European Standards that some people wish they had acted differently and no doubt had been better informed.

The Mayor and the local council may well have a say in whether or not the pool is opened (if a license is granted) as a Dolphinarium and that is why it is important to keep the pressure on at all levels.

It certainly has to be signed off by the Head of the local Tourist Information although this is usually a formality.

Many people have come on board in opposition to this venture because of the work that has been carried out at a local level supported by members here and on Facebook by letting their views be known to key decision makers.

This project is being done here in Hisaronu for tourists and we say Not in our Name - thanks all the same.

Anyone coming to this forum new via Facebook or elsewhere please read the posts from page 35 onwards as this lists most developments and outlines the campaign approach.

Thanks

This is where bureaucracy comes into its BEST Karennina!
Keramettin Yilmaz who signed away a childrens playground in favour of this project is now trying as far as he can to distance himself from it!
He said the final decision would be made by the Min of Ag.
The Min of Ag (names of whom and contact details you will find on earlier posts) did inspect the site and said that they could not grant a licence as the dolphins needed to actually be in place before this could be done.  That means the dolphins have to be taken from Kas by road!  There is a big question as to whether the dolphins would survive the journey once, let alone as anticipated by the Russian they would have to make it twice a year so that they could REST!!
Someone has to grant a licence to move the dolphins, to approve the SAFE transfer of them their conditions during transit, journey time, vets in attendance etc etc.
The Min of Ag have now come back and said the decision on whether is 'Puddle' is allowed to OPEN is nothing to do with them!!  They only grant a licence!!  The FINAL DECISION will be made by
............Keramettin Yilmaz!
That is a FAIR comment!!
but
WHO IS BEING FAIR TO THE DOLPHINS??
