"Dolphinarium plans create major protest"

Please remember that we report as much information as we can as we receive it and that sometimes we appear to go full circle and sometimes new information come to light and that can appear to or can actually change everything.

The decision making processes are as clear as mud but all levels of govt have been targetted and those in authority are very aware of the uproar and world wide opposition.

Our approach is to leave no stone unturned and tell it as we find it. This may be confusing sometimes but for us too.

Everyone is doing the best that they can and making the contributions they feel most comfortable taking.

The end is most certainly in sight - the season has started and the pool is by no means ready.

It will be a brave person that grants the go ahead for this and an even braver one who pulls the plug. A contract has been signed and the Dolphin owner was invited to open in Hisaronu.

There will be repercussions either way whatever the decision

The brave are always remembered along with all our forefathers who fought for the rights of others!
All that matters here is that everything people have done will SAVE the Dolphins from living a dying DEATH!!

As per DaveWalsh's post, IF the pool was leaking, they've patched it up with either concrete or silicon(they love silicon!) and then painted straight away then surely the water will not allow the patches to 'set' properly?  which means it would still leak albeit slowly?.  Perhaps someone up there should keep an eye on that?

Who's the best person to contact at this time? At the moment I'm focusing on the Mayor Keramettin Yilmaz. Is there anyone else we need to be contacting? Just to let you know, I'm getting lots of support from the A VOICE FOR CAPTIVE DOLPHINS facebook group. Many people are adding their names and messages so I can send them on the the decision makers. Let me know who else to contact at this critical stage! Thanks!! Carina x

Great work fighting this proposal.
From my experience (Uzumlu Cement Factory Fight) then there is one thing Turkish officials cannot and will not do, and that is to admit they are wrong and publicly say so.
It is a case of being seen to loose face and we were forced to take matters to court to get it stopped.
In your case hopefully it will be ministers who will make the decision to stop the pool ever opening but I'll bet it will never come from Keramettin Yilmaz on a local level.
Keep up the fight and well done to all of you working so tirelessly to stop it and help the dolphins.

This is my own personal point of view!!
The main aim of this is to save the two 'fellas' from the transportation from Kas to Hisaronou twice a year!  Being 'holed' up in a prison measuring 12m x 24m and with 912 cm water capacity.  Being surrounded by constant noise from the bars, restauurants, fairgrounds etc,.  I will not go on as you have read it all before!!
The final decision is supposed to rest with Keramettin Yilmaz!
The Russian has a contract signed by Keramettin Yilmaz for this 'Puddle'!  I am sure that if he tried to cancel this now the local Government would be sued to 'The high heaven' by the Russian!  The Russian must be 'Sitting back laughing!!'
That is why the Min of Ag must thoroughly look into the way the fellas would be transported!  Just being covered by some grease and ice would mean that these fellas could DIE on the way.  Their are strict rules regarding transportation of animals and I quote ........
ANIMAL PROTECTION BILL LAW no. 5199 (TURKEY)
This is Turkish LAW
I'm sure that nobody needs anyone to 'lose face' or publicly admit they were wrong as Firo has said which is why a 'GET Out of Jail Free Card' must rest with The Min of Ag and the governors in Antalya!
Please keep up the pressure!!

Time is running out!!

This is the email address of the Mugla Tourist Office. Their job is to answer and respond to any concerns about tourism in the Mugla area.

Contact name Arzu

alo.179@hotmail.com

They have been very helpful in the past and ensured that our concerns have been passed on to the relevant people and also made extensive enquiries on our behalf.

You can send them an email outling any concerns or particular issues you may have and ask them to pass on to either the Mugla Vali or the Ministry of Agriculture.

Attach links to any relevant web sites to support your particular concerns or to highlight the overwhelming opposition to the Dolphinarium for example a Voice for Captive Dolphins, the Outdoor Oracle article and the on-line petition.

The Facebook group Free the Olu Dolphins does have some wrong information on the page and also one of the members on there (linked to the wrong info) has p0rn on his profile page so maybe think twice before using this FB group link.
