Anyone know how the people who booked flights and hotels separate are going on?  Obviously they have no villa/apartment to go back to so how are they fairing?

Following you around on here tonight Lin...
Met a couple last night staying at Ece Saray - offered rooms at half price. Free use of internet and phone to make phone calls and couldn't have been more helpful apparently.

Don't forget there is no one coming to take up the rooms as traffic stopped both ways!

It must be really tough for some people... I know when i go on holiday its usually all spent by the end... seems like some tour operators are being more helpful than others by providing hotels and no doubt food too

We're due to fly out to Dalaman next Saturday, but our real worry is that our daughter is due to fly home to UK from Canada this coming Tuesday.  She's been working out there as a snowboard instructor over the winter, and then she is due to come out to Ovacik with us. I'm not even thinking about our flights to Turkey - as a mother my only concern now is about my daughter flying home from Canada.  I have mixed feelings.  On the one hand I would be delighted if the airspace was cleared quickly, but on the other hand I want them to make sure there is absolutely no doubt at all that it is 100% safe to fly.  I would obviously be sad if we don't get out to Ovacik next Saturday, but can't think beyond my daughter getting home safely at the moment.
Bridge
xx

If it wasn't safe the plane wouldn't take off Bridget.  I'm sure she will arrive in time to accompany you to Ovacik at the weekend
Have a nice time!

Anyone on holiday here who cannot get back to the UK should get receipts for food and hotel room costs. Under UK consumer law the holidaymaker would be entitled to claim that money from the holiday company.

Reading the BBC website some poor people are stuck in countries where they are not officially entitlred to be in. Their planes were diverted there, they are kept under armed guard. A  bit like the film "Terminal"
