news channels are now reporting several F16 fighter jets are showing engine damage after flying through the ash, I think I will get my coat and start walking back

Latest info on ferry companies around the UK:

Newcastle to Amsterdam fully booked until Thursday, good availability Saturday onwards. Amsterdam to Newcastle is full until Saturday. Good availability Sunday onwards.

P&O Ferries - have availability on the Dover-Calais route in both directions, foot passengers are advised to turn up at the port when they'll be accommodated on the next available crossing, passengers with vehicles are advised to pre-book.

LD Lines - have generally seen an increase of over 400% in traffic carryings compared to what was originally booked. They are seeing unprecedented demand for this time of year. Foot passenger space available on Portsmouth-Le Havre and Newhaven-Dieppe. In addition, tourist space on all ferry services - Dover-Boulogne/ Ramsgate-Ostend/Newhaven-Dieppe/Portsmouth-Le Havre

Norfolkline - Next available space out of Belfast or Dublin to Birkenhead is tomorrow, there is limited space from Birkenhead to Belfast or Dublin tonight.

Brittany Ferries - very limited space on their Spanish routes this week, but plenty of foot passenger space, and limited vehicle space, on their routes from Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo into Portsmouth, and from Roscoff into Plymouth

Stena Line - Additional capacity has been added in the form of increasing passengers from 550 to 650 on day sailings and by doubling up all freight drivers on overnight sailings to free up cabin capacity for passengers.

Availability for the coming days is very limited and really it is only from Thursday there is any real space to offer.

Norfolkline - Dover-Dunkirk services have limited availability for passengers with cars, Norfolkine can't carry foot passengers on its French route. They are offering limited availability of seats onboard coaches.

Irish Ferries - Space available on both their UK routes; Holyhead-Dublin, Pembroke-Rosslare.
