Polo the Tortoise
« on: April 29, 2010, 15:29:37 PM »
I have today aquired a large tortoise with a rather large hole in its shell, apart from that he/she is fine and is getting around well.

I would like to repair the shell with a fibreglass resin as instructed on several websites, the only problem being where can I get a repair kit?

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Andy ;)

Tinx  - is it a new hole ? or does it look like it has been there some time ?  and where was he found ?

I ask because several times during our recent trip we came across a large boy with a big hole, crossing the Uzumlu road - on several occasions.  Mr Pookie launched 'operation kaplomba' and rescued him at least three times, carefully taking him off the road and putting him into the woods.  However he seemed determined to spend his time walking down the road !  (The hole in this particular tortoise was beginning to heal though).  I wonder if it is the same chap ?!

I think it was a fairly recent hole but is a fairly large tortoise, I have repaired him now and he's running around the garden getting some fresh air.
I have taken several pics but not before the repair,I will post them later.
