call me slow, but I couldn't understand the undercurrent on this thread, now all is clear !  thank you Mr boss.

I'd prefer to put my hard earned pennies into local pockets that deserve it.

Most people who go to his restaurant will judge him on his food/service etc at that establishment, not on any alledged or real previous misdeeds.

I take each person how I find them.  He built our villa and we are happy with it and our dealings with him.  I have never made a habit of doing a character search on the owners of restaurants I eat in, or shops I shop in.  I CAN say we had an excellent meal at Ali's restaurant last night and will continue to eat there while the standard is so good.

Yes I used to tell Mrs Scunner that when we were courting. Somewhat blinkered, she was never keen on the Fred West Diner :D

yeah next time I go to a new restaurant I will say "Well done steak, plenty of onions and oh yes, were you a love rat years ago"

Will get some reaction in my local Chinese!

"Bleak House" doing very nicely, and "washing its face" ,as they say. Surprised to hear from you because I thought you were off to sort out the Gaza problem,as only you seem to be able to do. Hold my hand up re Croatia , but I do like the strip. Just to make your evening a happy one - it's spelt "criticize" .Tedious to the  extreme, I know but there we have it ! I so look forward to your intelligent and constructive posts...
