There do seem to be some rumours around at the moment. Does anyone know if anyone has reported these attempted abductions?   I was talking to a friend earlier and her flat mate was bothered walking back from Calis past the aqua park a couple of weeks ago - a dark coloured van with a young male driver stopped and offered her a lift she declined but he drove round the block and made a grab for her - she says he had no number plate on the vehicle and she didn't report it. In the UK lone walkers are always advised to walk in the opposite direction to the traffic - so towards the oncoming traffic.  More difficult to stop if you are on the other side of the road plus you can see what is coming towards you rather than vehicles coming up behind you.A taxi locally will cost you less than a drink.   Keep safe ladies.

Ive not had trouble recently or locally, but maybe thats because I learned the lesson fast! But I moved to Turkey 5 years ago by myself after my husband died, lived in Deliktas before all the new buildings were up and got *Grabbed* 3 times Once while walking dogs so even dogs didnt put him off, although the dogs are now very suspicious of men near me when its walkies, Now 5 years older and wiser, I never walk around here except when absolutely neccessary and then try to stick to the very main roads and even then Im aware of who is around me.
And no ,Im stupid but didnt report!!
Ps Nothing serious Just a lunge and Give us a Kiss But frightening enough at the time

:( It is very sad that I read this about calis.  I stayed with the family in a friends villa in 2006 and found the roads just dodgy due to pavements not fixed properly but to hear of the goings on you have lately I can only say thank you for the warnings and let it be a reminder that when on holiday we do tend to forget the safety boundaries especially for women.  Don't ignore your natural instincts if it doesnt feel right then it isnt.  Unfortunately there are eliments of bad people in Turkey that does not represent all the genuinely nice people, just like England!!

on this subject a few weeks ago,a friend of mine was walking back on the same main rd and stopped because she had lost her keys.As she was searching throug her bag,an unmarked white car pulled up and the man asked her if she was ok and said he would take her home. She declined of course, but the same car turned round and came back 5 mins later and he tried to make her get in by pulling her.She put up a struggle and he drove off,but it was then she noticed he had no number plate. She was quite shaken up and I advised her to report it,but I don't think she did.
Just think all these incidents need to be logged.

You are right HH - thanks for posting. Please ladies, keep an eye out for a white car with no number plate - it may give you a few minutes thinking time before he returns - time enough to get your camera or phone camera out ready to snap the perv. Incidents are still rare given the number of visitors and people in Calis, but it is so important to take in the information and be forearmed.
