KTHY Flights suspended
« Reply #130 on: July 03, 2010, 11:07:30 AM »
I understand it must be difficult for KTHY staff, but I agree with Julesbob.   We have paid money for tickets and at the current time we have no idea whether the flight will be available on the date we have booked.  If we rebook with another company (at a higher cost of course) there is no guarantee we will get our money back for the KTHY flight.   I I spoke to my credit card company, and although they acknowledged they were aware of the KTHY problem, because they have not actually ceased trading they can do nothing but suggest we turn up at the airport at the given time and if the flight is not there we can get a refund from them !!  What we all  need is for KTHY to confirm they have ceased trading and let us all reclaim our money back from credit cards or travel insurance and be able to rebook.  Surely there most be some 'association' overseeing events such as this that should be stepping in to help us - any ideas anyone ?

Hi everyone

I am so sorry to be the bearer of bad news but within this bad news at least the position of all of us is now clarified.

There will be no flights with kthy the merger that they have made with atlas jet does not go into operation until 2011  the london office at green lanes has closed as police had to be called becuase of angry passengers wanting information and a refund.

I have just spoken with kthy rep at dalaman airport over the phone this is his number 05337274778 his name is Recep. he also has had no wages to date.

So kthy  is  finished and flights with atlas jet leave only from stanstead and manchester and a rebook with them is very unlikely.

My advice here to you all is to now contact your holiday insurance people and your credit card company for a refund.

Hi all, Ive just spoke to Atlasjet, although they say pop in at turkey or Cyprus if as most of us do, live in UK nothing's changed take tickets to airport and see if you can get on one of their flights.
I was told that the merger is going through soon (yea right) and that if Atlasjet dont fly to and from booked airport they will REFUND !!!!!!
or offer alternative flight.

Many thanks...glad I booked with EJ last week!  A loss of around £500 - I took my chance when I booked such cheap flights. Will stick with the UK companies in future, even though I know these can go under too, at least you have the protection...

Thanks MaryTheresa.  At least we now know where we all stand.  :(

I've spent too many hours in the last couple of weeks worrying about this - I'm off to Germany tonight for a week.  When I get back, I'm going to put a claim in to Barclaycard and see what happens.  I also need to check my travel insurance documents as these may possibly cover us.  We have an account with Barclays and pay into their Additions Plus account which covers holiday insurance, RAC cover, extended warranty on electrical items etc - I just haven't had a chance to look through the documents fully to see if we are covered for things like this.

Maybe I'll get a chance to read it properly on my loooooong coach ride to Southern Germany (yes, no flights to worry about this time!)   :)

Good luck to everyone caught up in this mess.  By the time I get back, I'm sure there will be lots more to read about on this topic.   :o :-\ 8)

I'm about to start the process of trying to get a refund. Does anyone know what the credit card companies/ insurers will want as proof? I ask as it seems a little grey at the moment as the company arent in liquidation as such its just that Atlas done fly the same route? I'm a bit unclear as to what our position is - other than we will need new flights! Does anyone have any ideas?

Cavfan - we are in the same position. The advice from Atlasjet is to turn up at the airport with your KTHY ticket in case of availability on the Atlasjet scheduled flight, which is a joke. We need to know what has happened to the people who actually did this and what information they were given at the airport! I think we all know what probably happened but we could do with knowing for certain and then we could say that our flight was cancelled. Like you we would appreciate any other ideas people have.

It's always a worry these days booking direct with the airline as they are not protected by ATOL. We've all done it to save cash but maybe the travel agent or agency is the safer option?

Turning up at the airport to see if there is a seat for you on Atlasjet is a complete joke! Mind you if they are scheduled flights so you never know.
