We were due to fly back to Birmingham from Dalaman this lunchtime with KTHY. We arrived at the airport which was showing no details for any kthy flights and upon asking were directed to an empty KTHY desk, which just had a notice on it exactly the same wording as on the website.
We checked with the Information Desk and were told that a KTHY agent should be arriving any time. When he did show up he just apologised and said that we all had to arrange our own flights back to the UK and claim from our own insurance. We have natwest cover which unfortunately does not cover for airline failures and kthy are not covered by atol - when I told him this he just apologised again and said all he could do was help us rebook flights to Birmingham or another airport but at our own cost. People were getting very irrate, one couple had been on holiday in Icmeler and just been dropped off by taxi, they didn't know what they were going to do - he just kept repeating that that was all he was able to offer. Luckily we were staying with my sister in Dalyan so returned there and have booked the first available flights back, but this is not until Thursday afternoon which has of course cost extra, means extra car parking fees and extra time off work.
I asked the rep is this was indefinite and he said probably not forever but likely not to be sorted for a few weeks at least.
Luckily we had had our holiday and in the end do get a few days extra (but at a high cost), I do feel sorry for those who will have missed out and I hope this is sorted quickly for all of you who have flights booked.
