Had a nice letter from Virgin to aplogise for taking so long and they will be in touch again around the 21st August( our date of travel). So to me that sounds about right- wait and see if the flight is there and if not( hope it isnt now we've bought flights with Jet2!) they'll credit us!

My husband was talking to a work colleague today who he hasn't seen for a while.  This guy also has a property in Turkey though out in the middle of nowhere (  :o ) with only a few Turks - probably farmers! - for neighbours, a couple of hours drive away from Icmeler.

He asked hubby when we are off to Turkey next.  Bob explained that we are due to fly out next week, after being stung TWICE by airlines going bust.  His mate looked a bit perplexed and explained that he was ok as he was flying with Cyprus Turkish Airlines, next Monday, out of Heathrow!!   :o[:(!]:( :o

Hubby told him that kthy had gone bust and most people had lost their flights, as Atlasjet are covering very few, if any, flights.  This guy didn't look too bothered, and explained that their flight must be ok, as they hadn't heard anything!!!  If anything, he seemed most put out that hubby was messing up his holiday plans and explained that everything was ok in April, so must be now!

How many people are turning up at airports each day expecting their kthy flight to be running, as they don't know about the collapse of the company?  Most people know about Goldtrail as it has been well covered on the British news, but very little was said about Cyprus Turkish Airlines.

(This guy reckons he's going to drive up to Heathrow on Monday as he believes all is well !!)  [8)]

We were surprised when Gold Trail received so much publiicity when nothign was said on the TV or papers about KTHY.  Gold Trail are obviously a lot larger and more people are involved, but if it wasn't for this forum we would not be aware of the problem - it is very bad that KTHY's customers have not been advised.

Goldtrail were crap and deserved everything they got, surprised that it didnt happen sooner, but that doesnt detract from all the people involved who lost there hols, we had all our flights booked with Globespan for this year, who also went bust but just got on with it and booked more flights, got all monies back that were due to us, no probs with the credit card companies.
