Moving To Turkey
« on: June 22, 2010, 18:03:08 PM »
Hi everyone......our permanent move to Fethiye will take place in October. We will be taking our dog with us (at GREAT expense) and we would also like to buy a car on our arrival (also at GREAT expense)
Is it possible to take a new or second hand car from here to Turkey and get it re-registered there ? It would be great to buy one in UK and drive it there (using the ferry) complete with dog and other items which we could not otherwise take with us.
I suppose this is not possible (as are most sensible things !) but I would be grateful to hear more from you experts..........thanx

No you can bring a car in for a maximum of 6 months then it has to be removed for at least 6 months. So you can drive over with the dog and a car full, but eventually the car has to leave.

I'm not sure you can even buy a car now. I think you have to have residency permit.

Yes but it's a permanent move so residency permit is likely.
