It's just that they don't perform for England, and when they fail, nobody seems that bothered.

Where is the heart? A Beckham, a Gascoigne, a Butcher or the pride of Ian Wright who once said if he was picked to play netball for England he'd be there.

Pay them nothing for playing for their country. If they won't play, we learned the most important fact about them we need to know.

Agree with you Keith. There is something inherently wrong with the English National Game. I can't quite put my finger on it but I'm guessing it's something to do with money and millionaire lifestyles. Why should the Prima Donnas bother about winning when all they do is look at the 100k plus per week they are earning.

Rooney is probably one of the most talented players in the world but he was burnt out!! Badly injured towards the end of the season and supposedly out for 4 to 5 weeks. Rushed back after 2 weeks!!! I blame Fergie ;)

It doesn't help having a foreign Manager who doesn't speak English very well and obviously has never managed to get into the psyche of the English players. You could tell that Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard etc didn't have a clue what orders they were supposed to be following.

Just hope the new Manager will be British and has the guts to get rid of the deadwood and bring in the young talent we have in this country.

I have difficulty understanding Gerrard ;) - it's just as well I know Laffa.

Agree with the Rooney point wholeheartedly.

There's a strong rumour doing the rounds that the problem in camp was to do with Gerrard and Terry. It's alleged our replacement captain had been caught with his pants down some time back and it was covered up - angering terry somewhat and causing a rift in the camp. Expect some news over the next week or so if that's the case - the papers will get it in the end if there's any substance.

Oh dear, old scurrilous rumours that started last year.
We could mention 50% of the England team with similar rumours.  So on this premiss I suppose that
Terry would not have liked Rio Ferdinand having his job due to his track record. Remember Ayia Napa?
I don't think we should be looking for excuses.  England played badly they were just not good enough.

It's in the paper today that there was a major rift between Terry and Gerrard and that Becks had to step in to make the peace. No smoke........
