Only 5 and half months on passport

Has anyone else tried to enter turkey with less than 6 months??

Thinking of getting a last minute flight but just noticed passport runs out mid december?

I only need a week?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated xx

From the Gov' Passport help page

You do not have to wait until your old passport expires to apply to renew it. If there is any time left on your old passport, IPS will add it to your new passport, up to  maximum of nine months. You can renew your passport whenever you wish, but IPS cannot carry over more than nine months from your old passport to your new one.

So as you will need a new one anyway, just get it a bit earlier.

I was in the same position a couple of years ago.  I got mixed advise on CBF, some said they would not take a chance some people told me they had got through Customs, no bother.  So, I rang the Turkish Embassy and they told me I must get my passport renewed.  Ended up making an appointment and travelling to Glasgow and paying extra, got the passport in 4 hours and then went to the airport.  I can say I felt I had done the right thing, as I would have been sweating all the way there on the plane in case I was turned back.

I had the same problem when I travelled with a mate, he had less than six months on his passport when we went to Bulgaria (before they were in the EU) we didnt have any problem at all!

We were exactly the same as Jacqui a few years ago, and decided to just get it done to be on the safe side, the passport office said we had done the right thing,(for once ;)), but it cost £114.00 each,

2 years ago the same happened to us. My daughter, who was 7 at the time, had only 15 days left on her passport. I didn't notice it until the day before departure. I tried to get the passport renewed but I didn't have all the correct paperwork in time.
I had no option but to go to the airport. It was so stressful.
As it turned out we got there and back without problem.
However its really not worth the worry. If you have time get the passport renewed.
