Koycegiz - the New Ibiza
« on: July 26, 2010, 20:04:49 PM »
Coming back from N. Ireland yesterday I was reading the Easyjet booklet where they offer advice on places on different budgets and different styles in each of the places they fly to.

I was surprised to read that the "late and lively" place to be seen in for Dalaman was in Koycegiz, serving up the top tunes of the day to dance floors full of fun seeking trendies. I know Koycegiz very well and the village I know is so lively that you have to nudge the barman to wake him up when you want your bill...

Can you only get to this place by car? (not Ibiza!)  :)

You can get there by bus  - as far as I recall there is a bit of a walk from the drop off point to the lake but it's a nice place to visit.

The bus station is at the edge of Koycegiz just off the Fethiye-Mugla road near the statue of a globe (below). The walk to the lake is about 15 minutes. You might see Little Grebe swimming there (last photo).

Colwyn, would I get a bus from Otogar?
When I arrive, is it WELL signposted to the lake etc?
I have this habit of walling in the completely wrong direction, think I need a compass!

I have never travelled there from Fethiye Otogar but I guess any of the Mugla, Bodrum or Marmaris buses will stop there (even if you have to get off at the side of the main road) - just ask. There is one road that runs through Koycegiz - just keep walking slightly downhill till you get to the lake. Eat some of the lovely trout in a lakeside cafe.

Of course!  NOT!!  Certainly not at my age  :o

Though looking at those photos it looks like we really should pay it a visit.  It looks beautiful.   :)
