A friend of mine made Boomerangs for a living and sold them in crafts markets for over twenty years, most people who bought them did so for there novelty
value, never believing they would work and of course the few times they tried, they didn't so they end up on a wall or in the novelty draw.
The fact is they do work but you need a lot of space to throw them, the real clever bit is catching them, many times I have tried to catch one that is slowly spinning
over my head after a good return but misjudge the catch and your finger tips feel like you have just touched a hot plate, painful in the extreme.
PS.
The hunting Boomerangs are not made to return and have a thickened end to supply the knockout blow.
